4/6 How To Find Relevant Keywords In Less Than 20 Minutes?

In this part, I'll show you some tips for finding great keyword ideas for your project!

As this tutorial develops, we'll work together to establish and grow your first list.

To begin, I recommend that you open a small Excel spreadsheet or Google Sheets and unroll the recipe that follows. Let's get started!

1. Create A Preliminary List Of Topic Ideas

Before beginning their study, we urge our students in training to ask themselves the following three questions:

  • What are the topics that my personas are interested in?

  • What are the topics associated with my activity?

  • How would I wish my website or blog to get found? As a result, you have a preliminary list of topics.

Create a basic table with two columns (“personas” on the left and “problematic” on the right). This will help you to identify the many difficulties that your audience is dealing with. You may also use another form of table, this time with "motivation" on the left and "content" on the right.

Identify all of the motivations that drive your consumers to purchase from you and come up with content ideas that highlight those motivations. You'll get ideas for interesting subjects to address just by filling out these tables!

Lt's say you work for an SEO company as well. Some topics that spring to mind are:

Please keep in mind that these are not yet keywords, but rather a collection of broad concepts related to your project. We next go over each topic, digging and refining a list of suitable keywords for your SEO. This is exactly what we shall see in the tips that follow!

2. Consider Link Builders

Backlinks are the sinews of SEO battle. According to Google, this is the factor that most strongly correlates with position in search results.

Today, there are 2 types of people that visit your website:

  • Those who have a site or blog in your niche

  • Those who don't

Problem: Most content providers just write for their target consumers.

Unfortunately, this is the technique that is advised on many Marketing blogs. “Make outstanding content for your prospective consumers, and the results will follow...”

I am not implying that this is a bad thing and it is critical to centre your writing on your audience's expectations. However, if you want external links, you can't solely rely on that.


In the fitness world for example, they have discovered that link builders do not only enjoy sharing short articles with a slew of bicep-building suggestions. On the contrary, they want extensive and detailed step-by-step tutorials, ultra-detailed instructions that lead readers by the hand. “The Ultimate Guide to Healthy Eating,” for example.


Those seeking for information that cannot be found elsewhere on the internet. Consider your link builders as well! Those has the authority to send you backlinks. You'll notice that your material is far more likely to be shared by curators in your niche. You must, of course, be proactive in your hunt for backlinks. They are not going to fall from the sky. However, by using this strategy, you definitely increase your chances of acquiring it.

3. Exploit Google's Features

Google's suggestions are typically highly relevant because they come directly from the source! The “Related Searches” box at the bottom of Google search results is a good place to start looking for SEO keywords.

To keep in line with our SEO agency, let's use the keyword "SEO YouTube channel" as an example. We start a Google search and scroll all the way down... We end up with a first list of eight keywords that are related to the one we just put into the Google search field. Cool!


You may go even farther by selecting a keyword from this list of suggestions, such as "SEO tools YouTube," and repeating the operation.


You may do this as many times as you like; the more you search in depth, the more interesting keyword ideas will appear, such as:

  • YouTube SEO: How to Optimize Videos for YouTube Search

  • YouTube Video title

  • Include keywords in the title of the video.

  • Use eye-catching thumbnails.

  • Add subtitles and closed captions.

  • 12 YouTube SEO Tools to Boost Your Channel in 2021

  • Best youtube SEO tools

  • VidIQ

  • ...

These studies are really interesting. If Google displays them, it means that they are highly sought for by internet users. It's really as easy as that.

Another option is to go directly to the Google search bar and look for other recommendations. Then repeats... You may also do the same thing on YouTube, which, as I recall, has been owned by Google since 2006.


Until now, nothing has been overly complicated! We will continue our examination.

4. Wikipedia Hacker

Wikipedia our good friend, is extremely useful for finding keywords.

It's even a gold mine! Wikipedia is one of the only places on the internet that freely stores millions of articles written by industry professionals, all organised into categories and subcategories. The following steps should be taken to conduct a search for SEO keywords on Wikipedia, which is not highly considered but is often used by specialists in natural search:

1. Enter first in the search field a broad term that is relevant to our activity, such as "digital marketing."

2. Next, we'll go over the page's summary. It contains all of the "sub-topics" covered by the general page.

3. Click on a sub-subject, such as "Development and strategies."

4. And presto, we have a list of new sub-themes, some of which may be good SEO keyword ideas:

  • Segmentation

  • Influencer marketing

  • Online behavioral advertising

  • Collaborative Environment

  • Data-driven advertising

  • Remarketing

  • Game advertising

5. Keyword Explorer

Keyword Surfer has the potential to be my favorite keyword research tool. Why is this so? Because it displays SEO keyword ideas derived from Google search results. It's quick and easy! All you have to do is instalL Google Chrome's "Keyword Surfer" plugin. And the next time you Google something, you'll receive a list of search possibilities as well as data for each phrase.

6. Discussion Boards

Forums should be viewed as conversation groups that are available seven days a week in natural referencing.

You can get amazing ideas on certain topics, with up-to-date material and individuals who discuss it on a daily basis. Forums are frequently full of fascinating information and news that may be used to target an interesting keyword before everyone else does.


And, aside from SEO, they are quite important for Copywriting in order to grasp the language used, the worries, the expectations, the goals, the motivations, and the vision of many people that discuss the topics that interest you. Behind the scenes, it enables you to utilise the appropriate phrases in his writings to attract your target audience.

To locate forums on the themes you wish to target for SEO, use the following structure in the Google search bar: “Keyword + forum” or “Forum + keyword.”

Once you've discovered an active forum, simply browse the various sections, just as we did on Wikipedia. Then go deeper into the parts that interest you... Forums are really effective!


7. Have A Look Around Reddit

Your target demographic is likely to be on Reddit as well. As a result, it's an excellent keyword research tool for SEO.

Here's how to do it: Assume you sell bespoke boxes of French wines on your e-commerce site.


So you'll go to Reddit and search for your major topic. It will be the phrase "French wine" in our case. Then you'll go through all of the topics that have a lot of comments and likes. This demonstrates that these requests are being considered.

For example, you might add “French vegan wine” to your keyword list here. If you're creating a blog to go along with your ecommerce site, this is a wonderful method to target those relevant inquiries that can bring in a lot of traffic.

8. Keywords Everywhere

Keywords Everywhere is a very handy Google Chrome extension that creates a list of keyword suggestions on the right side of the screen when you perform a Google search.

When I google “Become a Freelancer,” I usually receive a lot of extremely valuable recommendations that are searched for by others around that phrase. We can come up with a lot of interesting keyword suggestions for SEO:

  • how to become a freelancer in 30 days

  • how to become a freelancer with no experience

  • how to become a freelancer for beginners

It's interesting to note that Internet users want to be informed and comforted about their experience, and so on... This tool appeals to me for three major reasons:

1. The list of recommended suggestions is lengthy and precise (I usually have a lot of ideas!).

2. The tool provides not only relevant keywords, but also what people look for in relation to this term.

3. It is incorporated with a number of other sites, including YouTube and Amazon.

9. Ubersuggest

Ubersuggest derives terms from Google search results. However, it also provides statistics on each term (such as search volume, CPC, keyword difficulty, the top Google results for each phrase, how many links they received from the share of other sites, and so on...). Ubersuggest is a fantastic tool for finding new keywords for your SEO.


Start by typing your desired keyword term, such as "Web Design," into the search field. You will receive an overview of:

  • Search volume

  • The number of monthly searches

  • SEO difficulty: an estimate of organic competition

  • “Paid” difficulty: an estimate of advertisement competition

  • Cost per click: the average cost per click for a paid advertisement (Google Ads)

These numbers will be especially important for the ''selection of SEO keywords'' article.

What we like about Ubersuggest for keyword research is the section right below: “Keyword ideas” that uses five keyword idea variables:

  • Suggestions

  • Related

  • Questions

  • Prepositions

  • Comparisons

Step 1: In Ubersuggest's search field, enter the URL of one of your key competitors' websites. Assume you run an SEO blog. For example, you may type "Search engine land" into the search field and then pick "Your country."

Step 2: In the left column, select "Top Pages." You will be sent to a report that looks like this:

This report displays all of your competitor's top pages that are in the same niche as you. These are the pages that receive the most traffic and rank well on Google.

Step 3: Choose one of these amazing top pages to use on your own site.


The objective will be to examine all of the different keywords that bring visitors to that page.

To do so, navigate to the “Estimated visits” category and select the “See all” option. When it's finished, a list of keywords will display. The content of the selected website is retrieved and viewed based on the keywords typed by Internet users. You may also check at the top pages (left column) for a certain keyword to discover which keywords are being targeted by the first results on the relevant query (excluding competitors).

10. Answer To The Public

It creates many questions that consumers search for on Google. All you have to do is enter a keyword, such as "natural referencing," into the search field.

Following that, a list of related topics will appear. It is fantastic for determining the intentions of users! This tool is quite handy, especially if you intend to develop your site or blog using a semantic cocoon logic. A useful free tool for rounding out your keyword list.

11. Ahrefs

Ahrefs is well-known for its ability to monitor traffic, positioning, backlinks, and overall site health, but with its new dedicated tool, Keyword Explorer, it is also highly beneficial for keyword research in SEO.

This feature, in addition to providing us with a plethora of valuable data on each keyword searched, helps us to determine whether that keyword is worth researching at a glance.

Consider the keyword "Digital Marketing Training." The tool provides us with a good overview of the selected term. Volume of searches, clicks, CPC... Everything is there. But what I really appreciate about this function is the ability to determine the keyword's complexity, which includes the estimated number of backlinks required!

This is critical information, particularly for the selection of the keyword I discuss in the following article. On the other hand, I don't think this is the ideal tool for keyword ideas.

Although it is very useful for comparing several different keywords with each other. It's a tool I'd recommend wholeheartedly if you want to push your SEO research to the next level. It's a paid tool.

12. Find Keywords by Analyzing Your Competitors

I'm going to show you how to use your competitors to uncover a tonne of relevant keywords in under a minute.

The first step is to go to Ubersuggest and enter your domain name into the search field. Then, choose the “Competitor Analysis” option, followed by “Similar sites.” You will be able to see all of the websites that compete with yours.


By clicking on the small cross, you may exclude the large media that aren't direct rivals. You now have a list of potential rivals. What you'll do next is scroll down to view the frequent keywords, the keyword gap, the traffic, and the quantity of backlinks.

What piques your attention here is the keywords gap! This displays all of the keywords for which your competitors are ranking but you are not. It's like a gold mine. To get a decent list of interesting keyword suggestions, export all of the keyword lists for the most relevant competitors to CSV format.


Obviously, not every keyword on your final list will be of interest. This is why we advocate focusing on long tail keywords (2 or 3 words) with high search traffic, low CPC (the greater the CPC, the more money individuals spend on this phrase), and low SEO difficulty (below 30).

You may be sure to come up with some interesting ideas by going through the recommendations for each of your competitors one by one. This is how you increase traffic. There is no mystery. Everything, as far as I recall, begins with SEO keyword research. Simply observe what works for your competitors. Find their weak point. Improve the quality of your material.

13. Take Advantage Of Relevant Keyword Opportunities

Every day, new developments emerge in your respective fields. Elements that are related to your project in some way and resonate with your community.

When these kind of events happen, set aside your editorial calendar and go for it! A full article on the topic that thoroughly describes this innovation will help you to establish your authority. Being the first increases your chances of being recounted by others who come after you since you will become the authoritative source. As more people mention you, your authority on the issue will rise. You could even get fortunate and appear on Google Discover with this popular term!

14. Extra Resources

Of course, there are several more approaches and tools available, and I am not familiar with all of them! By the way, I'd want to hear from you in the comments what the tools and strategies you use for keyword research. Other SEO tools I might recommend include: SEMrush, Soovle, Google Keyword Planner, Moz Keyword Explorer, and KW Finder. Keyword research reminds me of gold diggers. Don't limit yourself to two or three approaches. You will uncover the finest options by mixing them.
